i saw information on this conference a while back and was immediately intrigued. i loved the the idea of conspiring new ways of living out our faith, the thoughts of the conversations that people would be having there about so many things i highly value. i really wanted to try to pull off going but wasn’t sure if it was possible for all kinds of reasons. then a few weeks ago i got an email from julie clawson, who moderates the emerging women’s blog and copastors via christus in the chicago area, asking me if i could replace her as a workshop facilitator because she can’t travel due to her pregnancy (hey, thanks, julie for thinking of me, it really is a privilege). i was so excited because now i could tell jose now i sort of had to go!
the workshop i will be doing on friday and saturday is “emerging women find their voice” something i am obviously extremely passionate about. here’s the basic description: this workshop for both men and women explores ways emerging leaders, churches and communities can infuse the kingdom with gender equality and a diversity of voices in small and big ways beyond just the theoretical. you can check out conference details here. it is going to be an interactive, participatory conference focused on these four primary streams: the monastic, the missional, the emerging, and the mosaic. on my myspace, the first person listed as “people i’d love to meet” is shane claiborne so that is kind of fun, most of the time we don’t get to actually meet the people we list. i honestly just so appreciate the work that he and the simple way are so deeply committed to, the really living in the trenches, the back-to-the-real-ways-of-relationship-with-people-like-jesus-did thoughts.
anyway, i’ll let you know how it goes. any of you planning on going? if so, let me know, would love to hook up! i am excited to be part of the conversation and will soak in as much good stuff as i possibly can.
