i’m back! it was an incredible trip, details coming soon, but catching up on comments…

sandy – always great to hear from you…yes, this is something that drives me nutty–leaders controlling what gifts are utilized and which ones aren’t. that is so limiting & so sad & really takes away from the beauty of each individual and what they have to offer in true community. sending love from afar.

tammy – thanks for sharing and for supporting the ministry in africa, too. lots of pix to share soon….

jonathan – thanks for the link love…

julie – these are beautiful and powerful dreams. loved them all; one that really stuck out to me was the heart for social justice beyond catastrophic events but as a way of life.

I have a dream that we would learn to live in reality and stop fantasizing that things are going to change. To see ourselves for the amazing men and women that God created us to be. That we would look beyond outward appearances at the heart of a person. That we would stop trying to find meaning and satisfaction in the things of this world and learn to crave relationship with God through the grace extended via Jesus Christ. That the passion for “social justice” will spread not only in the wake of catastrophic events but as a condition of coexistence on this planet. That we will no longer tolerate abuse as a society. That we will be aware of our consumption and take only what we need. That we will share the resources in this world and not turn away when others are struggling. That we will use our ears to listen with compassion, our eyes to see without judgment, our hearts to love without reservation, our hands to help where we can, and our voices to speak for those who can’t.

I love your passion, Kathy. What a beautiful, encouraging post – perfectly timed, just when I needed the reminder that who we are and what God has gifted us to do is not determined by other people. It can be so discouraging when you pour yourself into a church, and discover that the leaders aren’t interested in what you have to offer unless it fits with their “vision”.

“it’s time to set people free to live out their passions–in small ways and big ways–and quit editing people out or using people for what we want instead of finding out what they are meant to do.”

AMEN! Have a wonderful journey to Africa. I look forward to hearing about it once you’re back.
